Building a Local Care Home Website with a Custom WordPress Solution
I was hired by Juice, a Bournemouth-based design agency, to bring their Adobe XD designs to life for a new local care home website. Hired as a freelancer, my role was to deliver a pixel-perfect build that matched the supplied mobile and desktop designs.
The project required precision and attention to detail, ensuring every layout, font, and interaction mirrored the designs. This was a simple brochure-style website, but I crafted it with a focus on quality and ease of use.
The Build
The website was developed in WordPress using Gutenberg and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), powered by a custom theme. All 11 components were built from scratch to match the supplied designs, making the site fully editable in the native block editor.
Juice and the care home's staff can easily update content, swap images, and manage layouts without touching code. This flexibility means the site can stay fresh and relevant without relying on a developer for every minor change.

Custom Components
The site included several bespoke blocks built to meet the exact needs of the design and content structure:
- Hero Block: Fully customisable title, subheading, background image, and CTA buttons.
- Left Column Content Block: Text and image layout with the ability to switch the image position in the editor.
- Contact Form Block: Integrated form with editable fields and headings, styled to match the brand.
- Carousel Slider Block: Image or testimonial slider with editable slides.
- Meet the Team Block: Staff profiles with images, names, and job titles, all editable via the block editor.
A Pixel-Perfect Delivery
The designs were clean and straightforward, but Juice agency expected a flawless, pixel-perfect build. That meant paying close attention to spacing, typography, and responsive behaviour.
By building all components from scratch, I ensured the site wasn't just visually accurate but also optimised for performance, accessibility, and easy content management.
Quick Turnaround
With only five pages and a clear design system, this was a fast-moving project. The build was completed on schedule, allowing the care home to launch its new site quickly and start attracting enquiries.
