A custom WordPress theme and event booking system for corporate leadership
In 2019 I was hired by Pretty Clever design studio in Bournemouth to develop a custom WordPress theme with an events booking system for Phoenix Leaders.
This was a challenging project, with complex animations and transition effects, used on the home page and navigation menu. The page template modules were built into a backend page builder using flexible ACF layouts, allowing Phoenix Leaders full control over content using CMS.
Flexible layout page builder
Phoenix Leaders can access WordPress CMS and select from block modules that can be re-ordered on the page using drag and drop interface:
Adding new content and updating existing content is a breeze using the modular page builder I developed with ACF flexible layouts.
Events booking system
Phoenix Leaders events required the option to list upcoming events and make them bookable, with the ability to take payment in real-time.
The WordPress theme has a CPT for "events" type and all event posts have ACF options that allow administrators to make specific events bookable:
A bookable event has the option to add a booking price, number of seats/spaces and VAT amount. When a user books an event they can add their attendees and this data is passed to a secure payment form for processing:
I built the booking system using Gravity Forms REST API with custom functionality for taking online payments and EU VAT calculations on checkout.
